I'm on birth control. Does tirzepatide affect it?
Also asked: birth control, oral contraceptive, pill, will it still work, pregnancy risk, condoms Answer: Tirzepatide can reduce how well oral birth control pills work, especially when you start it and after each dose increase. The label advises switching to a non-oral method, or adding a barrier method such as condoms, for 4 weeks after starting and for 4 weeks after each dose increase.
Semaglutide doesn't carry the same interaction.
Escalate: any pregnancy question, any "am I still protected" question.
Panel note: this entry did not exist in v1. Both clinicians called it the most serious omission in the file.
