How is my starting dose chosen?
Also asked: starting dose, why am I starting so low, can I start higher, first dose, 2.5mg Answer: Your provider picks it from your history, and new GLP-1 patients start at the standard lowest dose. Titrating up slowly is what keeps side effects manageable.
If you've been on a GLP-1 recently and stopped, tell us how long ago and at what dose and also provide a copy of the previous prescription. Gaps longer than about 2 weeks usually mean restarting lower.
You can ask to start even lower than standard. Providers honor that request often.
